What make services different from goods?
- it intangibles (you cant see, touch, or smell it)
- most services cannot been inventoried (cannot be keep)
- the ownership cannot been transfered (you cant own the services offered)
four type of services:
- People-Processing (services directed at peoples body, eg; spa)
- Possessions-Processing (services directed at people possessions, eg; car services)
- Mental Stimulus Processing (services directed at people mind, eg; lecture class)
- Information Processing (services directed at people intangible asset, eg; a broker analyze your land value)
- For people-processing, the most important for services to be deliver, customers have to come to services provider facilities/location. That meas it need high cooperation from customers before the services can be deliver.
- For possessions processing, customers might come to services provider location or services provider go to customers location, however, it does not require simultaneous action from both party and less cooperation from the customers before the service can be deliver.
- For mental stimulus processing, for the services can be deliver, customers has to be present whenever the services are being presented.
- For information processing, this type of services are the most intangible, it is sometimes hard to differentiate between mental stimulus processing and information processing, however for information processing, the services provider will only perform without any action on your intangible assets.
